Care work, organised properly

If you have ever left a shift knowing you could have done the job better with ten more minutes and a decent care plan, we would like to talk to you.

We are recruiting

Luxuricare is actively recruiting — Care Assistants in particular, and from time to time Care Coordinators, a Registered Manager and a Compliance Officer.

Register your interest and your details come straight to us rather than into a recruitment portal. Pay and terms are published below, because you should not have to apply to find out what a job pays.

Care work that is properly paid, properly trained and properly supported.

The team you would be joining

Small, local, and organised around the work

These are our own photographs — our carers, our clients and our own community work, not a stock library. If you join us, this is the team in the pictures.

Pay, mileage, training rates and pension are published further down this page. You should not have to apply for a job to find out what it pays.

Why here

What is different about working at Luxuricare

Four things that change the day-to-day experience of the job.

Tight, local rounds

We work from Bretby, between Burton and Swadlincote. Short journeys between visits mean less unpaid time in the car and a schedule that actually holds together.

Visit times we protect

A 45-minute call is worked as 45 minutes. We are not going to book you for a round that only works if you cut every visit short and never stop.

Proper systems behind you

Care plans and notes in Birdie, policies through QCS, learning through Lumis. You will not be working from memory and goodwill.

A small team, not a call centre

You will know the people you work with and the people you support. If something needs sorting, you are speaking to someone who can sort it.

Pay and terms

What a Care Assistant role pays

Published up front, including the part most adverts leave out.

£16.00

per hour — drivers

If you drive and have access to a car.

£15.00

per hour — non-drivers

The rate where a car is not part of the role.

£0.35

per mile

Mileage paid for travel between visits.

£12.75

per hour — training

Training time is paid, not expected for free.

Terms

  • Workplace pension — 3% employer, 5% employee.
  • Zero-hours contracts, with flexible working arrangements.
  • A rolling rota of around 3.5 days per week is available where applicable.
  • A driving licence and access to a car are required for care roles.

The bit other adverts leave out

Travel time between visits is not paid separately. Mileage is paid at £0.35 per mile, and training time is paid at £12.75 per hour.

We would rather you knew that before applying than discovered it on your first payslip. It is also why we keep rounds geographically tight — less unpaid time in the car is better for everyone.

What supports you

The tools you get

Carers are usually let down by the organisation around them rather than by their own effort. These three systems exist so that does not happen here.

Birdie logo

BirdieCare planning & digital records

Organised digital care planning, visit notes and continuity of information, so everyone supporting a person is working from the same picture.

QCS — Quality Compliance Systems logo

QCSPolicies & compliance

Structured policies and procedures that support professional standards across everything we do.

Lumis My Learning Cloud logo

LumisStaff e-learning

Ongoing e-learning and staff development, so our team keeps building on what they know.

Register your interest

A couple of minutes, and it comes straight to us.

Fields marked with an asterisk are required. Please do not attach a CV here — we will ask for one at the right point.

So we can see which visits would be a sensible travel distance.

Experience is welcome but not essential for every role.

For example: weekday mornings, alternate weekends, school hours.

Questions about working here

Are you recruiting at the moment?
Yes. We are actively recruiting — Care Assistants in particular, and from time to time Care Coordinators, a Registered Manager and a Compliance Officer. Register your interest and we will come back to you.
Do I need care experience?
Not always. Practical care skills can be taught to the right person, and some of the best carers came from retail, hospitality or looking after their own family. What is much harder to teach is patience, reliability and the instinct to notice when something is not right.
What are the hours like?
Visiting care work is built around when people need support, which means mornings, lunchtimes and evenings are the busiest parts of the day. We will discuss a pattern that genuinely works for you rather than agreeing to something neither side can sustain.
What does a Care Assistant get paid?
£16.00 per hour if you drive, £15.00 per hour if you do not. Mileage is paid at £0.35 per mile. Training is paid at £12.75 per hour. Travel time between visits is not paid separately — we would rather tell you that plainly than let you find out later.
Is there a pension?
Yes. Luxuricare contributes 3% and the employee contribution is 5%, under the standard workplace pension arrangement.
What kind of contract is it?
Zero-hours contracts, with flexible working arrangements. Where it applies, there is also a rolling rota option of around 3.5 days per week. We will be straight with you about what hours are realistically available before you accept anything.
Do I need a driving licence?
Yes — a driving licence and access to a car are required for our care roles. Visits are spread across Burton, Swadlincote and the surrounding villages, and the rounds do not work otherwise.
What checks do I need to pass?
An enhanced DBS check, identity and right-to-work verification, and references. These are requirements of working in regulated care, and they are completed before anyone visits a person's home.
What training will I get?
Induction before you work independently, then ongoing learning through Lumis, our e-learning platform. Our policies and procedures are structured through QCS, so what you are taught matches how we actually work.
How do I apply?
Fill in the form on this page. It takes a couple of minutes, and it goes straight to us rather than into a recruitment portal.
