The distinction that matters
Registered is not the same as inspected
A lot of care websites blur these two words together. We would rather separate them properly.
Registration is the CQC assessing an application and confirming that an organisation meets the requirements to provide a regulated activity — in our case, personal care delivered in people's own homes. It includes naming a registered manager who is personally accountable for the service. Luxuricare is registered.
Inspection is what happens afterwards. Inspectors examine the service in practice, speak to people using it, and publish a report with a rating: Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement or Inadequate. The CQC record for our service says, in its own words, “We have not inspected this service yet”.
So we have no rating. Not a low one — none at all. When we are inspected, whatever the outcome, we will link to the report from this page.
Language we will never use
You will not see the phrases “CQC approved”, “CQC accredited”, “CQC rated Good” or any implied rating anywhere on this website, because none of them would be true. If you are comparing home care providers, it is worth checking whether the others are being equally careful — the CQC register is public and free to search.

What is the CQC?
The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. Any organisation providing personal care in someone's home must be registered with it, and the CQC has the power to inspect, rate and — where necessary — enforce.
Does Luxuricare have a CQC rating?
No. The CQC records that it has not inspected this service yet, so no rating exists. Any home care company telling you it is 'CQC approved' or 'CQC accredited' is using language the CQC does not use — the regulator registers services and rates them after inspection.
Is registration the same as being inspected?
No, and the difference matters. Registration means the CQC has assessed the application, confirmed the service meets the requirements to operate, and recorded a registered manager. Inspection is a later process where inspectors examine the service in practice and publish a rating. We are registered; we have not yet been inspected.
