Personal Care at Home, Delivered with Respect

Discreet, unhurried help with the daily routines that keep life comfortable and dignified at home.

Is this the right support?

Personal care is the everyday, practical support that helps someone stay comfortable and independent in their own home. It is usually the first kind of care families ask about — often because washing, dressing or getting up in the morning has quietly become harder.

It might be needed after an illness, as part of getting older, or because a condition has progressed. It might be one short visit a day or several. There is no standard version of this, which is why we start with a conversation rather than a package.

How we can help

  • Washing and bathing — support that protects privacy and takes the time it needs.
  • Dressing and grooming — help getting ready in a way that still feels like you.
  • Getting up and settling at night — a steady start and end to the day.
  • Continence support — handled calmly, discreetly and without fuss.
  • Mobility around the home — a hand where it helps, within safe limits.
  • Medication support — prompting or administering, as agreed in the care plan.

For you and your family

What that means in practice

The difference this makes for the person receiving care — and for the family around them.

Dignity is the point

Personal care is intimate work. Our team is expected to knock, explain, ask and keep someone covered and comfortable throughout — every visit, not just the first one.

Time that matches the task

A rushed personal care visit helps nobody. We would rather agree a 45-minute call that works than a short one that leaves everyone anxious.

Written down properly

Preferences, routines and the small details that matter are recorded in the care plan on Birdie, so whoever visits knows how you like things done.

Being clear about what we do

Where medication support is part of a visit, what our team can and cannot do is set out clearly in the care plan and follows our policies and staff training. We will always be specific about this with you rather than leaving it vague.

Luxuricare provides personal care and practical support. We do not provide nursing or clinical treatment, and we work alongside — not instead of — GPs, district nurses and other health professionals.

Personal Care at Home in Burton & Swadlincote

We deliver this service from our base at Bretby Business Park, which sits between Burton upon Trent and Swadlincote. In practice that means short journeys, a team that knows the local roads, and an office you could actually visit.

Coverage across the surrounding villages depends on where our team is working on a given day, so please ask us about your specific address rather than assuming either way.

What families say

David HorneBurton upon Trent

“Lyndsey formed a lovely relationship with my Dad and was kind and supportive with my Mum despite Mums mood swings and increasing aggressive behaviour. She was always reassuring and kept me well informed, appreciating my difficulties following surgery and not living locally. Her professional manner helped me make difficult decisions when it became apparent my parents needs couldn’t be met in their home.

“I cant thank my dads amazing carers enough for all they do for him and my mum & the massive help they are to me. Today they have taken my dad on his birthday trip to Twycross zoo. he’s been so excited and is having the best time with them these ladies didn’t have to do this they wanted to because they care.”

“The gentleman pictured is my uncle. It’s been a rough 12 months, diagnosed with Parkinson’s and lost his wife of 52 years in January. Lyndsey was introduced to myself and my uncle around 10 months ago and it’s difficult to put into words how positive her impact has been. It isn’t just ‘care’ but ‘caring’.

Questions about personal care

Can I ask for a female or male carer?

Please tell us your preference at the assessment. We will do our best to match it consistently, and we will be honest with you if there are days when that is difficult rather than promising something we cannot always deliver.

How long is a personal care visit?

It depends on what is needed. Our care calls are 30 minutes, 45 minutes and one hour, priced at £20, £27 and £31.50. Full personal care usually needs 45 minutes or an hour.

Will it be the same carer each time?

We plan rotas to build familiarity, because continuity genuinely matters with personal care. We will not promise the identical person at every single visit — holidays, illness and rota changes are real — but consistency is something we actively work at.

Do you help with equipment like hoists?

Any moving-and-handling support is agreed in advance, recorded in the care plan and only carried out where our team is trained and it is safe to do so. If a piece of equipment or an assessment is needed first, we will say so.
