Our people

The people who actually arrive

Care is only ever as good as the person standing in the hallway. This is the standard we hold them — and ourselves — to.

We have chosen not to fill this page with stock photographs of models in tabards.

Luxuricare is a small, local team led by Lyndsey Ratcliffe, who is the registered manager named on our CQC registration. Rather than publishing a cast of faces you may never meet, we would rather set out precisely what has to be true of anyone we send into someone's home — because that is the thing that actually protects the person receiving care.

If you want to meet the person who will be supporting you before care begins, say so. Wherever the rota allows it, we arrange exactly that.

Our care team

Recruited carefully, trained properly, supported daily.

Our standard

What has to be true of every carer

Four things that are not negotiable, whoever is on the rota.

Checked before they knock

Enhanced DBS check, identity verification and references, completed before anyone is sent to a person's home. No exceptions, no starting-while-we-wait.

Recruited for temperament

Practical care skills can be taught. Patience, discretion and the instinct to notice when something is not right are harder to train, so we recruit for those first.

Supported to keep learning

Ongoing e-learning through Lumis, with policies and procedures structured through QCS so that what people are taught matches how we actually work.

Given time to do the job

A visit that is booked for 45 minutes is worked as 45 minutes. Carers who are not being rushed between calls deliver noticeably better care, and everyone knows it.

Employed, not contracted

Our carers are employed by Luxuricare rather than self-employed contractors booked in to fill a gap. They wear a Luxuricare uniform top and carry photo ID, so you always know who is at the door.

Checked on, regularly

Spot checks and supervisions are carried out in person several times a year. Families can also be given access to Birdie to see which carer is attending, visit times and visit notes.

Why there are no team photographs here yet

Publishing a carer’s photograph and name on a public website is a decision that belongs to them, not to us — and it involves their personal data. We will add real team profiles when the people concerned have given informed consent to appear. In the meantime we would rather show you an empty space than a stock photograph implying a team that is not ours.

Behind the team

What supports them

A carer working from a clear, current care plan, with a manager who is reachable and training that is kept up to date, does a better job than a carer working from memory and goodwill. These are the three systems that make that possible.

Before the first visit

Our checks

  • Carers are employed by Luxuricare — Our carers are employed staff, not self-employed contractors booked in to fill a gap.
  • Uniform and ID badge — We provide uniform tops and photo ID badges, so you know who is at the door.
  • Spot checks and supervisions — Carried out several times a year, in person, as part of how we manage quality.
  • Family access to Birdie — Families can be given access to see which carer is attending, visit times and visit notes.
  • Regular carers, consistent rounds — We aim to provide regular carers and organise clients into consistent rounds.

We aim to provide regular carers and organise clients into consistent rounds. We do not promise the identical carer at every visit, because no honest agency can.

Questions about our carers

Will the same carer come each time?
We aim to provide regular carers and organise clients into consistent rounds. We do not promise it will be the identical person at every visit — people take leave and get ill, and any agency claiming otherwise is overpromising. Keeping rounds tight and local is how we make familiar faces realistic.
Are your carers DBS checked?
Yes. An enhanced DBS check is part of our recruitment process, along with identity checks and references, before anyone visits a person's home. This is a requirement of working in regulated care, not an optional extra.
What training do carers receive?
Ongoing e-learning and development runs through Lumis, our staff learning platform, and our policies and procedures are structured through QCS. Training is not a one-off induction that is never revisited.
Can we meet the carer before care starts?
Wherever we can arrange it, yes. Introducing someone to the person they will be supporting before the first official visit makes that first visit far easier for everybody. It is also part of why we offer a free 30-minute care call.
What if we do not get on with a carer?
Tell us. It is not awkward and it is not a complaint — personalities differ and a bad match helps nobody. We would far rather change the carer than have someone dread a visit. If you would prefer to raise it formally, our complaints procedure explains how.
Are you recruiting?
We are always interested in hearing from kind, capable people who want to do this work properly. There is a form on this page and a fuller careers section if you would like to know what working here involves.
